Questionnaires Make Me Feel Good
From Cass, obviously.
1. Do you save old greeting cards and letters? I used to, and now I do this thing where I make sure I keep the most recent from each person in case it’s my last one from them. Chelsea is my friend who will only say she LIKES me in all caps, but it means more than love ever could. We drunk text more than we sober text and she is almost always in Los Angeles against her will at an ungodly hour of the night. She posts photos of herself sticking her tongue out on her tumblr and writes beautiful stories in secret even though she should write them out loud. She takes quick screen shots of photos of mine that she likes on Instagram and then posts it and I know that sounds detailed, but I appreciate it because Chelsea is the queen of details. She’ll remember the shade of a lipstick you mentioned you liked six months ago and buy it for you on your birthday so you have a new birthday lipstick. She understands Adam Driver and is the only other person I’ve met with a comparable amount of girl crushes. She’s my girl crush. She takes photographs of her tiny trinkets, the patterns on her blouse, and makes watercolors of the things in her purse. We hate the same things and LIKE the same things. And the things that she likes she likes so passionately that I can’t imagine another living soul could ever like that thing more. She reads movie scripts for fun and gives thoughtful feedback to the unknown aspiring screenwriters. We tell each other to “fuck off” when the other person tries to buy the other a drink. We drink tea at my house with my mom and we try to get weird piercings and go to the LACMA together. We met at Berkeley but were lazy and became better friends through our secret Orange County crushes. She’s the most noble person I know and challenges me and everyone around her to be. fucking. better. This is a rambling but I just want you to know that I LIKE you more today than yes-ter-day.

A. What are your favorite smells? Kev’s pillow, jasmine when it first starts blooming in the spring, coffee in the morning, coconut anything. B. Can you go a whole day without caffeine? Yes but why would I? C. Who knows more about you than anyone else? Cass because we are connected D. What song did you last listen to? Something on the rap station E. Do you have a crush on anybody? I have crushes on 90% of the girls I know. As my boss says, “girls like to feel crushy.” F. Do you like the Beatles? I sing “Girl” to the babies at least once a day G. What color would you choose to wear if you had to wear one for the rest of your life? Black H. Do you cook often? I love to cook I. What was the last film you watched? Did you like it? I watched Somewhere and I kind of enjoyed it. It’s not her best but it still holds that magic. J. Can you sew? Sorta K. What is your favorite fruit? Strawbs L. Are you health conscious? To many, yes. But I fail because of my sweet tooth. M. Go do the Kinsey scale. What result did you receive? I got an “F” which means I failed because I either answered incorrectly or am just – and I quote – a very “unusual person” SAME N. Do you curse a lot? Yes but never in front of children O. When was the last time you had a pint of beer? I can never finish a beer despite really enjoying it P. Are you pro-life or pro-choice? Choice Q. Is there a certain food you crave for no reason? Y. How do you like your eggs? Every way except hard boiled Z. What was your last argument about and who was it with? I try to forget arguments.

Today I woke up in a silly hotel in Kevin’s jeans because I forgot my pjs, went to brunch with my good friends, sat outside on a sunny February San Francisco day, bought a new house plant, drank Sofia Coppola sparkling wine with strawberries, caught up on some blogs, took a nap, got a pedicure, finished a book, made some jewelry, took a trip to Whole Foods to get dinner ingredients, made dinner with Kevin, took a salt and lavender bath while listening to Rumours, watched GIRLS, and finished the night watching old David Cross stand-up. Now I’m going to go to sleep and reflect on how loved I felt today, and how grateful I am that my 25th is going to be the best year of my life.

VISION #4 Word of Mouth 1980 // “an art journal curated by Tom Marioni of the Museum of Conceptual Art (MOCA)…with articles and with artists’ works designed to be produced as pages in a magazine. For number 4, this issue, artists were given time on a phonograph record rather than pages in a magazine.”
I’ve been on an intense eBay hunt for this after seeing this recording in Berkeley Art Museum’s archives from The Possible project today. While I’ve so far had no luck, I did find the audio recordings online, and for free, HERE. UBU rules, enjoy.
This is a terrible photo but I can’t even begin to tell you how much love is going on here. One of the best nights, ever.
